Someone played it for her -— as a perspective song for her to record -- last summer while she was crossing the country as part of the American Idols tour.

"I tried so hard not to, but I cried," she recalls. "I was just like, 'I'm sorry, guys. I just miss my mom.'"

It's no wonder the tears flowed. She was days away from a tour stop in her home state of Oklahoma...and she hadn't seen her mother in more than a month when she heard the song.
