ST. LOUIS, MO  [Monday Aug.9.2004]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Growing up in Kennett, Missouri, Sheryl Crow liked to swim in the town's community pool. The Grammy-winning artist would also attend swim team practice there. To give back to her hometown, Crow pledged last fall to help Kennett build a new pool just off the town square. Crow has said she wanted to give the children the opportunity to swim and draw more people to Kennett's downtown.

Details of Crow's financial involvement were not disclosed, but the city received a $250,000 grant to help fund the Sheryl Crow Community Aquatic Center. The pool is scheduled to open around Memorial Day, 2005, and the preliminary design includes a competition pool, interactive splash area and kiddie pool with a park atmosphere.
