LONDON, UK  [Monday Sep.13.2004]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- The Cure has been selected as MTV's Icon of 2004 and, to celebrate, MTV is sponsoring a special ceremony and concert on September 17 to honor the band. The live show takes place in London and features artists and celebrities performing and paying tribute to the Cure. Marilyn Manson hosts, and Blink-182 will perform. The Cure is also scheduled to take the stage in a live performance.

MTV will air the Cure - MTV Icon show sometime in October.

With a career spanning twenty-five years, The Cure have written and recorded numerous hit songs including "Boys Don't Cry," "Love Song," "Let's Go To Bed" and "Inbetween Days," among others.
