Mayer and West making music together for new album.
by Krista Desens ![]() LOS ANGELES, CA [Friday Nov.26.2004] /RedBoxCode.com/ -- The next Kanye West record may feature John Mayer on a song or two. At the American Music Awards, Mayer revealed to MTV, "I just did some stuff with Kanye in the studio that's ridiculous." The "Daughters" singer added, "We have a thing on tape that's pretty cool." West has been an admirer of Mayer for a while now, especially the singer-songwriter's lyrics, which West called "inspirational." When MTV asked West about the collaboration, West said, "I don't wanna give too much away. I don't do music for the hype behind it. It's because I really love John as an artist, I like his voice. He's like the modern day [Doobie Brothers singer] Michael McDonald. ... And me and John, we just cool, period. Like me and Common, we get in the studio and we vibe and then we make music from that point. If I can't vibe with a person then I can't do the song." MTV reports that the Mayer-West song will likely appear on West's next album, titled "Late Registration." Wanna own a piece of John Mayer?
