HOLLYWOOD, CA  [Monday May.16.2005]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Looks like Usher's role in the forthcoming movie "Dreamgirls" -- set to star Beyonce and Jamie Foxx -- may be just a dream.

On Friday afternoon, Usher's manager and mom, Jonnetta Patton, issued a statement to MTV saying that contrary to Thursday's report by Variety magazine, Usher has NOT signed on for the movie adaptation of the Tony-Award-winning musical. The statement reads, "Usher has not confirmed his participation in the film 'Dreamgirls,' and a deal with DreamWorks has not been set or finalized."

Production on "Dreamgirls" is scheduled to start in January 2006. Beyonce is set to star as Deena Jones, a singer in the soul trio the Dreams, while Jamie Foxx has been cast as the Dreams' controlling manager, Curtis Taylor Jr. There are also rumors that Eddie Murphy is being considered for a role in the film.
