ATLANTIC CITY, NJ  [Wednesday Jul.27.2005]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Backstreet Boy Howie D. is hosting an auction this week in Atlantic City, New Jersey to raise funds for the Dorough Lupus Foundation.

The live and silent auction will take place on Thursday (July 28) at the Brulee: The Dessert Experience at the Tropicana Casino and Resort. This special fundraising event is by invitation only.

MTV.com reports that Howie will also meet with some fans that suffer from Lupus and will take them to a screening of the new film, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."

Howie has been active in the fight against Lupus for some time, and he and his family founded the Dorough Lupus Foundation after losing his sister Caroline to the disease.
