LAS VEGAS, NV  [Wednesday Nov.9.2005]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Green Day leads the way with eight nominations for this year's Radio Music Awards.

The band is up for awards in multiple categories including Artist of the Year/Alternative and Active Rock Radio; Artist of the Year/Rock Radio; Artist of the Year/Adult Hit Radio; Song of the Year/Mainstream Hit Radio ("Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"); Song of the Year/Alternative and Active Rock Radio ("Boulevard Of Broken Dreams"); Song of the Year/Alternative and Active Rock Radio ("Holiday"); Song of the Year/Rock Radio ("Boulevard Of Broken Dreams") and Song of the Year/Adult Hit Radio ("Boulevard Of Broken Dreams").

Following Green Day's eight nods is Kelly Clarkson, who earned five Radio Music Award nominations. Other artists nominated include Ciara, Goo Goo Dolls, Mariah Carey, Nine Inch Nails, U2, Usher, and 50 Cent, reports RollingStone.com.

The 2005 Radio Music Awards recognizes an artist's success as measured by radio airplay. This year's show will air live from Las Vegas on December 19th on NBC. The two-hour event takes place at Alladin's Theatre for the Performing Arts.
