LAS VEGAS, NV  [Tuesday Dec.6.2005]  /RedBoxCode.com/ -- Kanye West will receive the Artist Achievement Award during tonight's televised broadcast of the 2005 Billboard Music Awards.

The award pays tribute to West's accomplishments as a rapper and producer.

This evening's Billboard Music Awards will also feature performances by Gwen Stefani, Green Day, Toby Keith, R. Kelly, Daddy Yankee with Pharrell, and Carrie Underwood.

LL Cool J hosts the event.

With seven nominations a piece, Mariah Carey, Green Day and 50 Cent are the leading contenders for the Billboard Music Awards. Other artists to receive multiple nominations include Destiny's Child, Kelly Clarkson, the Killers, Gwen Stefani, Fantasia, the Game, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails.
