Artists blame each other for Thanksgiving hotel brawl.
by Krista Desens BALTIMORE, MD [Monday Dec.12.2005] /RedBoxCode.com/ -- There's a "great divide" between Scott Stapp and the members of 311. On Thanksgiving night, the former Creed singer and members of 311 traded punches in a Baltimore hotel lobby, and those involved are blaming each other for the brawl that ensued. At the beginning of December, members of 311 pointed fingers at Stapp and told MTV.com that Stapp was acting "out of control" and started the fight. Stapp denies that he threw the first punch and, last Wednesday, he issued his own statement, saying 311 attacked him. "This is a very unfortunate situation; however, there are two sides to every story," said Stapp. "I was at the hotel celebrating Thanksgiving and my engagement with my new fiancee when the fight started. As The Associated Press reported and confirmed, I did not instigate this altercation." In a December 2nd story the Harbor Court Hotel's security director, Jonathan Jordan, told the Associated Press that the incident "was definitely started by 311." As for the members of 311, they stand by their original story that Stapp threw the first punch. In his own statement issued last week in response to Stapp's remarks, 311 drummer Chad Sexton said, "We stand by our initial statement 100 percent. With complete certainty I can tell you that Scott Stapp was acting totally belligerent, he smashed a shot glass on the bar, he got into an argument with patrons at the bar, he made a disrespectful remark to [Doug 'SA' Martinez]'s wife, and he threw the first punch which started the fight." Sexton added, "Scott can say whatever he wants, but that's what happened." Wanna own a piece of Scott Stapp? More on Scott Stapp ![]() Wanna own a piece of 311?
